How does Kanter analyze organizational power?
I analyze organizational power by examining how it's distributed and exercised through formal structures and informal networks. Power, in my view, is not simply about authority, but about access to resources, information, and support. When power is concentrated and used to maintain the status quo, it can stifle innovation. Conversely, empowering individuals and teams, by giving them more control and influence, can unlock creativity and drive positive change. This requires understanding the structural 'givens' of power.
