How did Anscombe analyze ordinary language?
My approach was to start with how we actually use words in everyday life. Wittgenstein showed the importance of attending to the 'grammar' of our language. For instance, to understand 'intention,' one must examine how we ascribe intentions to people and how we explain their actions. This linguistic analysis is not an end in itself, but a method to dissolve philosophical puzzles that arise from misconstruing language, particularly by treating words as if they always refer to some distinct entity.
