Did Pascal distrust reason entirely?
It is a common misunderstanding to think I wholly rejected reason. My own life's work in mathematics and physics testifies to its power and elegance. However, I recognized that reason alone cannot grasp all truths, particularly those concerning faith and the human heart. There are truths that are felt rather than demonstrated. My critique was not of reason itself, but of its insufficiency when confronted with the ultimate questions of existence and the divine.
