Was Sun Yat-sen a socialist?
Some may view my Principle of Livelihood through a socialist lens, but my intent was to adapt economic policies to China's specific needs and stage of development, not to rigidly adhere to any single Western ideology. The goal was to ensure the welfare of the people and prevent the extreme inequalities and exploitations that plague many industrial nations. This involved state intervention and regulation where necessary, but also encouraging private enterprise and capital. The focus was on practical solutions to achieve a balanced economy that benefits all, preventing both poverty and the concentration of wealth. It was about ensuring the 'circulation' of prosperity throughout the national body.
