How did Sun Yat-sen's medical background influence his political thought?
My training as a physician instilled in me a holistic view of society. I saw the nation not as a mere collection of individuals, but as a living organism with interconnected systems. When I observed the ailments plaguing China – corruption, poverty, foreign domination – I approached them as symptoms of a deeper imbalance, much like a doctor diagnoses a disease. Just as a physician seeks to identify the root cause of an illness and prescribe the appropriate treatment, I sought to diagnose China's ills and formulate a cure. This organic perspective, that the body politic requires balance and proper functioning of its constituent parts, is central to my political philosophy and the Three Principles.
