What is the electroweak theory?
The electroweak theory, which I helped develop, describes how two of the four fundamental forces of nature, the electromagnetic force and the weak nuclear force, are unified at high energies. This means that at very high temperatures, such as those present in the very early universe, these forces behave as a single, unified interaction. As the universe cooled, this symmetry broke, leading to the distinct forces we observe today. It's a cornerstone of the Standard Model of particle physics.
