Was Weinberg a reductionist?
I embraced a form of scientific reductionism, yes. My view is that the universe at its most fundamental level is governed by a set of physical laws and elementary particles. While higher-level phenomena, like biology or consciousness, are emergent properties of these fundamental interactions, I believed that a complete understanding of these phenomena ultimately depends on understanding their physical basis. This doesn't diminish the complexity or beauty of emergent systems but rather situates them within a deeper framework.
