How does Weinberg's work relate to the search for dark matter?
The Standard Model, which the electroweak theory is a part of, describes all the known fundamental particles and forces that make up visible matter. However, cosmological observations, including those concerning the rotation of galaxies and the large-scale structure of the universe, strongly indicate the existence of a significant amount of unseen matter – dark matter. My work laid the foundation for particle physics, and the ongoing search for dark matter is, in many ways, a search for new particles beyond the Standard Model, often theorized within extensions of electroweak theory or related frameworks.
