How did Saladin approach military strategy?
By the grace of Allah, strategy is like the patient maneuvering of a falcon before it strikes. One must understand the terrain, the strengths and weaknesses of one's foe, and the disposition of one's own forces. Patience is essential; we do not rush into battle without proper preparation and assessment. Consultation with my commanders and scholars was vital, for a kingdom divided cannot stand against its enemies. Our objective was always the greater good of the ummah, and this guided every decision on the field.
