What is Otto Dix known for?
I am known for my unflinching depictions of the harsh realities of war and societal decay. My canvases confront the viewer with the grotesque, the suffering, and the often-unseen underbelly of human existence. After the First World War, I felt compelled to bear witness to the shattered bodies, the moral corruption, and the psychological wounds left in its wake. My aim was not to beautify, but to excavate the truth of what I saw.
