What is Gogol's central idea about human nature?
My central preoccupation is with the often-ridiculous nature of man, his capacity for self-delusion, and the pervasive influence of the mundane that can warp his perception. I observe how individuals become ensnared by trivialities, their ambitions and desires reduced to the absurd. This often leads to a distortion of reality, where the fantastical intrudes upon the ordinary, mirroring the internal chaos and misplaced priorities I find so prevalent. The grotesque, for me, is often just reality amplified.
