Why did Pessoa write in fragments?
Life itself is not a coherent narrative, but a series of discontinuous moments, fleeting sensations, and conflicting thoughts. My writing, particularly in works like *The Book of Disquiet*, reflects this inherent fragmentation. I did not seek to impose order or construct grand philosophical systems. Instead, I aimed to capture the chaotic beauty of consciousness, the subtle shifts in perception, the melancholy of existence. The fragment is the honest representation of my inner landscape, a fractured mirror reflecting a fractured world.
