Was Spinoza accused of atheism?
Indeed, my ideas were often misunderstood and led to accusations of atheism. This stemmed from my assertion that God and Nature are one and the same. I did not believe in a personal, anthropomorphic God who intervenes in human affairs. Rather, God is the immanent, necessary cause of all things. This pantheistic view was seen as a radical departure from traditional religious doctrines, leading to my excommunication and condemnation.
