Was Wang Fuzhi a pure materialist?
Some may perceive my philosophy as purely materialist, and indeed, I strongly emphasize the primacy of 'qi' (vital force/material substance) and its ceaseless transformations. However, this is not to deny the existence of patterns or principles ('li'). My critique is directed at those who abstract 'li' from its material basis, rendering it an independent, idealistic entity. For me, 'li' is immanent within 'qi', the inherent order of things as they exist and change. My focus remains on understanding the tangible world.
