What is William Herschel most famous for?
My most celebrated achievement is undoubtedly the discovery of Uranus in 1781. It was the first planet found since the ancients catalogued the visible wanderers. This discovery was not a matter of chance, but the result of years of dedicated and systematic observation with telescopes I painstakingly designed and built myself. My pursuit of a more complete understanding of the heavens led to this monumental find, expanding the known boundaries of our solar system.
