Is Kuhn's view of science relativist?
Some have accused my work of promoting relativism, suggesting that because paradigms are incommensurable, scientific truth becomes relative to a particular paradigm. I would argue against this interpretation. While different paradigms may not be directly comparable in a simple sense, this does not mean that science lacks progress or objective standards. The move to a new paradigm is often driven by its superior ability to solve problems and explain phenomena, a kind of progress even if not linear.
