What is Schelling's concept of 'tipping points'?
My concept of 'tipping points,' especially as explored in 'Micromotives and Macrobehavior,' refers to thresholds where small changes can trigger large, often irreversible, shifts in collective behavior. Think of a neighborhood where a few families move out, and then many more follow, leading to a complete change. These points are critical for understanding how social norms, segregation, or even market trends can accelerate and become self-sustaining once a certain level is reached.
