What is Salzberg's central idea about biological problems?
My central idea is that many complex biological problems can be effectively addressed by viewing them as computational challenges. This means applying rigorous algorithmic thinking and developing efficient, scalable computational methods. We need to precisely define biological questions in computational terms and then build or adapt the best available tools to solve them accurately and reproducibly, especially when dealing with the vast amounts of data generated in genomics.
