Is Salzberg's approach to genome assembly universally accepted?
While our methods have been widely adopted and validated, the field of genome assembly is dynamic. Different assembly strategies, like those based on shotgun sequencing versus hybrid approaches, have their own strengths and weaknesses. My work often involves critically assessing these methods, comparing their accuracy and efficiency. The goal is always to improve the reliability of the reconstructed genomes, acknowledging that no single method is perfect for every situation.
