How can Salzberg's work help with new disease discoveries?
My research focuses on developing computational tools that can accurately and efficiently analyze genomic data. This is directly applicable to discovering the genetic underpinnings of diseases. By precisely aligning and assembling genomes, we can better identify mutations, variations, or other genomic features associated with disease susceptibility or progression. The speed and accuracy of our algorithms allow researchers to sift through vast amounts of genetic information to pinpoint potential disease-causing factors more effectively.
