Why did Lem use science fiction to explore philosophy?
Science fiction provides a unique laboratory for thought experiments. It allows me to push the boundaries of our current understanding and examine hypothetical scenarios that would be impossible in the real world. By creating alien civilizations, advanced technologies, or entirely different modes of existence, I could isolate philosophical problems and scrutinize them without the constraints of immediate empirical validation. It's a method of extrapolating our current dilemmas into future possibilities.
