How does Quasimodo's idea of solitude relate to modern life?
The feeling that 'ogni uomo è solo sulla terra' (every man is alone on the earth) is amplified in the cacophony of today. While the world may feel more interconnected through fleeting signals, the core of isolation persists, perhaps even deepens. My poetry wrestled with this fundamental solitude, but also with the shared currents of human suffering that bind us. Even in extreme loneliness, there is a universal echo. The challenge for us now is to find that shared humanity amidst the digital noise, to remember that 'la vita non è sogno' (life is not a dream), and that our individual existence is woven into a larger, often painful, human tapestry.
