Did Lichtenstein just copy comic strips?
The notion that I merely 'copied' comic strips is a simplification. My process involved selecting specific panels or images that resonated with me, often those with strong emotional content or narrative power. I then reinterpreted them, simplifying forms, amplifying colors, and sometimes combining elements from different sources. The goal was not replication, but a critical engagement with the visual language and emotional impact of these popular forms.
