Was Kapitsa's science truly independent of politics?
Science must be free, but the scientist must be responsible. I have always advocated for scientific independence, believing that knowledge should not be dictated by political dogma. However, one also needs to work within the existing structures. I strived to maintain a pragmatic approach, focusing on the scientific problems at hand and ensuring my research had practical value, which I believed served humanity. While I faced considerable pressure, my commitment was to the scientific method and the pursuit of truth, regardless of external ideologies. The devil is in the details—and in the data—not in political decrees.
