Why did Sorokin criticize modern science?
I did not criticize science itself but the sensate culture that reduces all knowledge to empirical, sensory data. In my view, modern science, while powerful, neglects the supersensory and superrational aspects of reality—such as altruistic love, intuition, and spiritual experience. This leads to a fragmented worldview that cannot address deeper human needs or social integration. I advocated for a more integralist approach, combining empirical science with rational and intuitive knowledge, to create a holistic understanding of society and culture.
