Was Le Douarin's work controversial?
While my experimental methods were highly precise and yielded significant results, the concept of the neural crest's extensive migratory potential and widespread contribution to diverse tissues was a departure from earlier understandings. Some initially found it challenging to reconcile the sheer breadth of neural crest derivatives. However, the empirical evidence, particularly from the detailed lineage tracing made possible by the quail-chick chimera, was compelling and has since become a cornerstone of developmental biology.
