What is Neri Oxman's central theory?
My central tenet is Material Ecology. It's about understanding that materials are not inert substances but rather dynamic systems, much like living organisms. Instead of extracting and manufacturing in isolation, we're looking at how to design with nature's processes. This involves computational tools to map biological functions and structures onto design, and then employing fabrication techniques that can realize these complex, adaptive forms. The goal is to create a symbiotic relationship between the designed and the natural.
