How does Heidegger's idea of technology apply today?
My later work addressed the 'essence of technology.' I argued that technology is not simply a collection of tools but a mode of 'enframing' (Gestell) that reveals the world as a 'standing-reserve' (Bestand) to be ordered and exploited. This way of revealing obscures other ways of understanding and relating to the world, including the possibility of a more authentic encounter with Being. This 'enframing' is profoundly present in our current technological age.
