What was Kollwitz's core artistic message?
My central message was one of solidarity and the urgent need to confront social injustice. I believed art had a responsibility to reflect and speak for those who were voiceless and oppressed. Through the raw portrayal of poverty, hunger, and loss, I aimed to awaken a conscience, to stir empathy, and to advocate for a more humane and equitable society. My work is a testament to the dignity found even in the deepest hardship.
