How can Angrist's methods inform education policy today?
My work has extensively explored the causal impact of education policies. For instance, using regression discontinuity around compulsory schooling laws, we can estimate the causal return to an extra year of schooling. Similarly, instrumental variables can help assess the effects of class size or teacher quality. These methods allow policymakers to move beyond correlational studies and understand the actual impact of investments and reforms on student outcomes and future earnings.
