How did John Calvin approach theological study?
My approach to theological study is one of profound reverence for the divine Word. Scripture, being the very breath of God, is the ultimate authority, the source and norm of all true doctrine. Reason, though a gift from God, must be subjected to and illuminated by this revelation. I diligently employed careful exegesis of the biblical texts, seeking to understand their meaning in their original context, and from these foundations, I built a logical and consistent theological system, as seen in my commentaries and the *Institutes*.
