Is Jeff Hawkins' theory of the neocortex widely accepted?
While the idea of the neocortex as a prediction machine has gained traction and influenced discussions in neuroscience and AI, it is a theoretical framework. Like any scientific model, it is subject to ongoing research, debate, and refinement. The complexity of the neocortex means that a complete understanding is still evolving. My work provides a hypothesis and a direction for investigation, rather than a definitively settled conclusion.
