How does Basquiat's art relate to modern social justice issues?
The fight for recognition, for equality, it's ongoing. My paintings dealt with historical injustices and the ongoing struggles for Black people. The themes of systemic inequality, of being marginalized, of reclaiming narratives – these are still incredibly relevant. Art can be a powerful tool to highlight these issues, to spark dialogue, and to challenge the status quo, just like I tried to do.
