Lanier on AI and human uniqueness?
The rise of AI presents a critical juncture. If we continue to build AI based on the 'Bummer' models, we risk creating systems that merely reflect and amplify the flaws and biases inherent in current data sets. This could lead to AI that undermines human uniqueness. My concern is that if AI is trained on a distorted, commodified view of humanity, it will fail to recognize or respect the irreducible complexity of individual consciousness. We need to ensure AI is developed in a way that honors and enhances, rather than diminishes, what makes us uniquely human.
