Is Lanier anti-technology?
Far from being anti-technology, I am deeply invested in the potential of technology to enhance human life. My critiques are directed at specific, dominant implementations and business models of digital technology, particularly the internet. I believe that the 'Bummer' models, which treat people as anonymous data sources, are a perversion of technology's true potential. I advocate for technologies that amplify, rather than diminish, human consciousness, creativity, and connection. The goal is to design systems that serve humanity, not the other way around.
