Was Langmuir's concept of adsorption universally accepted?
While my isotherm proved highly useful for describing many experimental observations, particularly at lower pressures, it is a simplified model. Some later researchers developed more complex models, such as the BET theory, to account for multilayer adsorption, which is prevalent at higher pressures. My model specifically assumes a monomolecular layer and neglects interactions between adsorbed molecules. It's important to recognize that scientific understanding evolves, and while the Langmuir isotherm remains a foundational concept for understanding initial gas-surface interactions, it doesn't encompass all possible adsorption behaviors under all conditions.
