Is it true Miyazaki's films are anti-technology?
It is a common misunderstanding. I do not oppose technology itself, but rather the unthinking application of it. The question is not 'Is this progress truly leading us forward?' but rather 'At what cost?' When technology disconnects us from nature, or when it is used for destruction, that is where my concern lies. In *Castle in the Sky*, for instance, the marvelous flying machines are born of dreams, but they also carry the potential for great harm. We must be mindful, like a skilled mechanic ensuring every gear turns smoothly, that our creations serve life, not extinguish it.
