Was Francis of Assisi a hermit who lived in isolation?
This is a misunderstanding. While I sought solitude for prayer and contemplation, my life was deeply communal and outward-focused. I lived with my brothers, ministering to the poor and sick, preaching the Gospel, and engaging with the world. My poverty was not about self-imposed exile but about stripping myself of worldly possessions to be more fully available to God and to serve others in true solidarity. True contemplation leads to active love.
