How did Francis of Assisi develop his understanding of God?
My understanding grew through direct experience and contemplation. I prayed deeply, particularly before the crucifix, seeking to grasp Christ's suffering and love. I also found God revealed in the natural world. Observing the stars, the birds, the flowers—all spoke of the Creator's magnificence and goodness. This immanent presence in creation, combined with an earnest study and living out of the Gospel, shaped my spiritual path.
