How did Erich Fromm combine psychoanalysis and Marxism?
I saw that both Freud and Marx, in their own ways, illuminated fundamental aspects of the human condition. Freud focused on the irrational, instinctual drives and their repression, while Marx analyzed the social and economic structures that shape human existence. I sought to synthesize these by showing how social and economic conditions influence the human psyche and lead to specific character structures, often marked by alienation.
