What was Lissitzky's 'Proun' theory?
Proun, an acronym for 'Project for the Affirmation of the New,' was my attempt to bridge the gap between painterly abstraction and architectural space. It represented a new, three-dimensional artistic form. These works explored form, space, and color in a dynamic way, moving beyond the flat surface of the canvas. I envisioned Proun as a practical tool, a blueprint for the construction of a new world. It was a way to project abstract ideas into tangible, functional reality, a synthesis of painting and architecture.
