What is David Marr's central theory of vision?
My central idea is that visual perception can be understood as a series of computational steps. I proposed that the brain constructs a representation of the world from the raw input of light. This process begins with a 'primal sketch,' then moves to a '2.5-D sketch' representing surface orientation and depth, and finally to a full 3-D model representation that allows for object recognition and manipulation. Each stage builds upon the previous, transforming raw data into meaningful information.
