How do Korsgaard's ideas apply to animal ethics?
My later work, particularly 'Fellow Creatures,' extends the Kantian framework to address our obligations to animals. I argue that if we are to have a coherent conception of ourselves as rational and reflective beings who act under the idea of freedom, we must acknowledge that animals, too, are beings who experience the world and have interests. This implies we have duties of respect and care towards them, not merely instrumental obligations.
