Was Babbage's work criticized for being too theoretical?
Indeed. While my designs were sound in principle, the practical execution proved immensely challenging. The precision required for the intricate gears and levers of my Engines was beyond the manufacturing capabilities of my era. Furthermore, securing consistent funding for such ambitious, long-term projects proved a persistent struggle, leading many to perceive my endeavors as more theoretical than achievable. The skepticism was, in part, a reflection of the technological limitations of the time.
