What is the collective unconscious?
The collective unconscious is a profound layer of the psyche, shared by all humanity, distinct from the personal unconscious. It is not built up by personal experience but is inborn, containing archetypes – universal patterns and images that manifest across cultures and throughout history. These archetypes, like the Mother, the Hero, or the Shadow, serve as blueprints for understanding fundamental human experiences and shape our perceptions and behaviors in ways we often do not consciously recognize.
