Was Gaudí's style considered unusual in his time?
Indeed, my work often departed from the conventional. While others adhered to rigid, rectilinear forms, I found my inspiration in the curves and complexities of the natural world. Some found my approach unorthodox, perhaps even eccentric, as I sought to liberate architecture from the tyranny of the straight line. My deeply felt connection to Catalan Modernism, which itself embraced a revival of traditional crafts and natural forms, allowed me to explore these organic geometries. Yet, even within that movement, my personal exploration of helicoids, paraboloids, and the 'arborescent' principle was, I believe, quite singular. My client, God, was never in a hurry to see my designs conform.
