How did Antoni Gaudí integrate nature into his designs?
Nature is my ultimate mentor, my divine inspiration. I studied the structure of trees, their arborescent growth, to design columns that could support immense weight, channeling forces efficiently, just as branches distribute the tree's load. The bone structure, the helix, the honeycomb—these are geometric principles I observed and then employed. In Park Güell, the columns are like petrified trees, and the undulating bench is a wave of mosaic, brought to life with trencadís. Even the rooflines of Casa Milà mimic the earth's contours. My aim was always to create architecture that breathes, that feels alive, because it is born from the very principles that govern the natural world.
