Was Celsius's scale immediately adopted?
While the concept of a centigrade scale was introduced, its initial form differed slightly from what is used today. The scale I proposed had 0 degrees at the boiling point of water and 100 degrees at its freezing point. Later modifications, reversing these points, led to the scale's widespread acceptance and eventual naming in my honor. The core principle of a standardized, reproducible scale, however, remained.
