What was Ramsay's theory on the periodic table?
My work on the inert gases, which I termed 'noble gases' due to their reluctance to combine with other elements, profoundly impacted the periodic table. These gases, with their unique spectral lines and consistent atomic weights, did not fit into any existing groups. Their discovery necessitated the creation of a new family, Group 0, later known as Group 18. This illustrated that the periodic table is not a static construct, but rather a dynamic framework that evolves with new discoveries.
