What was William Blake's central idea about perception?
My central idea is that perception is not passive, but an active force that shapes reality. 'If the doors of perception were cleansed,' as I wrote, 'everything would appear to man as it is, infinite.' We are often limited by reason's 'spectacles,' which blind us to the spiritual and imaginative realms. True vision requires the imagination to break free from restrictive, materialist views.
